![]() ![]() ![]() You can jam the signal by using a more powerful transceiver, it drowns out/over powers the sensors signal.Īn example that people may be able to understand is the signal strength of wifi. So much fun can be had especially if looking for a way to get back at nuisance neighbours not to mention the costs associated with equipment playing up, engineer callouts etc, not that I condone this behaviour of course, but education can come in many shapes and forms. So yes always go wired where possible, you'd be surprised what tricks you can get up to with radio frequencies, like switching on central heating in the middle of a hot summers night, or switch it off during a cold winters night, and remember if you get a more powerful transceiver you can effectively jam the device like the wireless thermostat so the controller only picks up the hackers signal. You can pick up for about £30 a usb transceiver dongle which when used in conjunction with some free open source Software Defined Radio software, if the dongle covers the radio frequency range, you can set up your own fake mobile phone mast to intercept people's mobiles (its what the police use to help identify who is in crowds demonstrating), send text messages or even given them a call not to mention play around with any other devices on other radio frequencies like wifi, bluetooth, wireless central heating controllers and more if you can crack the encryption IF it uses any and then just work out the protocol. One other point to note about wireless systems, is the radio frequency can be hacked easily so hackers can have fun setting off your alarm. ![]()
